CATS (Computer Aided Textile Supervision) is Fabric Inspection & Cut Optimization software made by Datatex, natively integrated with the NOW ERP solution for textile and apparel manufacturing.
This bespoke application is designed with two primary functions: visual inspection with recording of roll goods and cut optimization, both essential in providing the highest quality of each individual piece produced.
The transition of roll goods from raw to finished piece is a critical inventory step and must therefore be accompanied by precise analysis and real-time decision support to the operator and machine management.
CATS is designed to search and find the optimum cut of fabric, considering major and minor defects, defect frequency, and customer requirements.
A huge benefit of Datatex’s CATS is the real-time mapping of defects and constant suggestions on how best to address them, whether that is removal, fixing, or simply reporting.
The roll mapping and defect data from CATS then flows with the roll providing quality insights to warehouse staff, the fulfillment team, and, if desired, to the end customer.
When integrated with NOW, all the information is available, enriching the ERP with the data that can be used for analyzing the defects with back tracking of machines on which it was run, processing lot it belongs to, and so on.
This software can be configured as per end customer requirements in terms of defect points, meters per roll, cuttable defects, etc.
Once configured, it creates the cut plan with an optimization tool for maximizing the yield of first-quality fabric.
CATS can be used for Loom State fabric inspection and finished fabric inspection.
